The discs must be written by an M-compatible DVD drive, but can be read by any existing DVD drive. It requires no special machine to read and any DVD-player should be able to read it, plus it’s also supposed to be backwards compatible.

Milleniata has started to take pre-orders for its ’1000 year’ optical discs. The first drives and discs will become available on Sept. 1 through Millenniata’s website, with retail shipments beginning in early October.
